Duterte asked to choose between Jollibee and McDonald’s
In the battle of fast food giants in the Philippines, President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday was asked to choose between homegrown Jollibee and US chain McDonald’s.
But the country’s most powerful man played it safe and chose neither, saying he preferred something more “native.”
“Frankly I do not eat… Really, truly, seldom, very often. But I stick to bibingka and maruya,” Duterte said in a press briefing before heading to Japan for a three-day official visit.
At Duterte's inauguration last June 30, local finger food and delicacies were served at the Rizal Hall in Malacañang.
Maruya, which is Duterte’s favorite, was also on the menu.
